· At Soper we do not do ties. For instance this year I had 3 seniors with a 4.2 GPA according to our student information system. We take the 17 core classes plus the classes required to be considered for val/sal and average their numerical grades. Then rank them based off of that information.
Tina Jeffreys, School Counselor
· We run it sequentially, because that is what's best for the student. Colleges will give a valedictorian scholarship to every #1; they will give a valedictorian scholarship to #2.
Vicki Harbert, Tishomingo HS
· Depew runs sequential.
Stacey Dry
Depew High School
· At Turpin we use logical.
· At Buffalo we do sequential.

I have a question on the best way to run class rank.
I can run it 2 different ways: Logical or Sequential

Logical - Example: 4 students at #1, then 5th student at #5.
Rank 1 Student 1 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 2 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 3 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 4 - 4.0
Rank 5 Student 5 - 3.99

Sequential - Example: 4 students at #1, then 5th student at #2.
Rank 1 Student 1 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 2 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 3 - 4.0
Rank 1 Student 4 - 4.0
Rank 2 Student 5 - 3.99
