[Counselors] Counselor Question

I did some asking about the Google Doc forms and thanks to Cindy Lattimore, at Indian Capital Technology Center, she shared something from one of her school counselors:

I have created a google form that can be accessed from any device with internet, not just iPads. I have created our form to be accessed by parents and teachers as well. We have linked it to our school website for ease of all involved. The computer stations that we have set up in our counseling center have two preset tabs (school web page and request to see a counselor) when students access the internet.

We have found that we can call students from class as needed without them sitting and waiting for entire class periods while we are working with other students. I have come back to my office from testing to find students standing and waiting, out of class unnecessarily. Our staff likes the fact that this has cut down on class time lost.

At the end of the year, we hope to access the google spreadsheet that is compiled from all of the google form entries, and get a breakdown of the number of students that sought our help for different reasons and the amount of time spent on each type of task. I have already created a copy of Muldrow counseling check in form and Muldrow counseling check in response spreadsheet, in hopes that I would be able to share with others in the future. I'm willing to answer any questions you or others may have about this topic because I see the benefit for both students and counselors alike. Win-Win!!!!!

If I have not shared both documents with you correctly or you find some information that should be confidential, please let me know so that I can correct it immediately. On the spreadsheet, I added a couple of columns to the far right so that we counselors can document date, time in/out of each person and additional comments for future reference.

Tommy Leach sent an email just after her monthly counselor newsletter went out a couple of months ago.  You could look on her subsequent counselor newsletters or email her about where she found it.  She sent a link to a blog from a counselor that uses one mounted to a stand so that the tablet cannot "walk-off" with a student.

There was an article about it in one of Tommi Leach's newsletters and then a breakout session this spring at the Counselor's only conference. Both gave examples.

Is there someone that uses an iPad at the counselor's door for students to "login" on a google form? I heard about that somewhere and didn't want to reinvent the wheel so to speak. It's for tracking data such as who did you see that day, what service did you provide, was the service counseling related, etc. I'm going to try to be more data driven next year and I wanted to mess around with it before next year.
