Eastern will host lifelong educator Dr. Donnie Nero for a presentation on
Tuesday, Feb. 25 in honor of Black History Month. Nero will present
“Triumphs in Oklahoma African American Education” at 2 p.m. in the Johnnie
Wray Theatre in Pratt Hall. c.

Nero’s distinguished 38-year career in education began as a teacher for
Sapulpa Public Schools in 1971 and ended in 2011 when he retired as
president of Connors State College after 11 years. He was the first African
American president of a non-historically black institution in Oklahoma and
under his leadership, Connors experienced record student enrollment and
campus renovation.
