Hello Colleagues,

We still have a few slots available for your presentations for this academic year. Please see below.

Welcome back to a new school year! Here are your Faculty Development sessions for the upcoming school year 2014-2015. We have chosen some topics from those identified in the faculty survey at the end of the spring semester. Thus far, we have lined up a few speakers, but are looking for additional speakers to cover the other topics. This list is by no means exhaustive so feel free to contact Dr. Marsha Herron (466-3267 or mdherron at langston.edu) for additional information about presentations or to add one of your own. We have some time before we finalize this list for the year, but please contact me soon.

The sessions will be featured in the order they will appear:

Ahondju Umadjela, MS, RD/LD Rescheduled
Health Eating for Academic Success

Session Synopsis: Research shows that a relationship exists between overall well-being and academic success. Although well-being is a general term that indicates a state of being healthy, happy, or successful (Merriam-Webster Online, 2014), there are some steps that need to be taken in order to be healthy, happy, or successful. One of the most important steps is healthy nutrition. Healthy nutrition contributes to a person's well-being because you are what you eat. This presentation will provide practical healthy eating tips for academic success.

Byron Quinn, Ph.D. Rescheduled
Using Tablets in the Academic Setting

Session Synopsis: Finding the best and most appropriate ways to integrate tablets into the classroom.

Lisa Weis, Ph.D.

Kate Corbett, Head of Technical Services and Instruction
