Metro Tech has a financial aid officer position open.  This position is an
assistant to the Financial Aid Director.  Applications will be accepted in

TITLE   :  FINANCIAL AID OFFICER                       PROFESSIONAL, GRADE 2

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:

 

To assist the Financial Aid Director in the coordination of financial aid
activities throughout the District.  Responsible for providing financial aid
advice to parents and students.  Also responsible for assisting the
Financial Aid Director in developing and maintaining all record and report
systems relative to financial aid activities.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

 

1.                   Supports and promotes the MetroQuest business model
including the Baldridge criteria and the MetroQuest Performance Excellence
Plan.

2.                   Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to
effect continuous improvements in services to customers.

3.                   Supports and assists in strategic planning for
developing the Future Picture for Metro Technology Centers.

4.                   Interviews students, providing information on financial
aids programs, analyzing student needs and assessing eligibility.

5.                   Assists in establishing record-keeping systems
consistent with legal and functional requirements for information.

6.                   Assists in preparing and submitting reports required by
all funding agencies.

7.                   Assists in authorizes grants and loans in compliance
with rules and regulations established by U. S. Department of Education.

8.                   Assists in preparing and disseminates financial aid
brochures and other information.

9.                   Serves as liaison between students and funding agencies
regarding student and loan/grant status.

10.               Assists in coordinating with Finance Department on fiscal
matters including cash requests, cash accountability and cash disbursements.

11.               Maintains current working knowledge of pertinent state and
federal regulations.

12.               Makes recommendations for policies and procedures
affecting financial aids and student services.

13.               Assists in performing all record keeping and reporting
activities as required by federal regulations for the Pell Grant program.

14.               Assists in the coordination the District financial aid
program.

15.               Performs related duties as assigned.

 

 

REPORTS TO:  Financial Aid Director

 

SUPERVISES:              No supervisory responsibilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:      Full-time, 12-month, exempt position.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance appraisal conducted annually.

 

 

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

            EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

            Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

            Three (3) years work experience in financial aid counseling with
knowledge of online loan processing, Return to Title IV refund processing
and Federal Pell Grant processing.

            Two (1) years of work experience in a coordinator or supervisor
role.

combination of education                                                

                       and experience)

 

ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

            Office setting.

 

EQUIPMENT:

            Micro- or mini-computer, various software packages, photocopier,
fax, and 

            telephone.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

            Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining
to financial aid.

            Knowledge of Veterans Administration regulations.

            Demonstrated ability to work well with people.

Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work under stress and
pressure of deadlines.

 

MINIMAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

            Frequent handling, fingering.

Constant sitting, communication, hearing, and near vision 

(all representative duties).
