Merry Christmas everyone! It's hard to believe the holidays are here once again, but with all the rush, stress and commercialism of the season there also comes the joy of sharing and spending time with friends and loved ones.

The Spring OASFAA conference is just around the corner, April 13 - 15 in Catoosa, and our service project is once again Citizens Caring for Children. For those of you who are not familiar with this wonderful organization I will share their mission statement: "Citizens Caring for Children breaks the cycle of abuse and neglect for Oklahoma foster children by addressing their material, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs....because every child deserves the chance for a better life. Through our programs we promote self-worth, self-esteem and develop character to give hope, change lives and create healthy futures."

This year they are calling their project "It's in the Bag". It's in the Bag will provide duffle bags to the Oklahoma foster children they serve. These children have been removed from their homes with nothing but the clothing on their backs and do not get the chance to go back to get a change of clothes, a blanket, a favorite toy or stuffed animal, or even a toothbrush. These bags will provide these children with the daily necessities most people take for granted.

They are asking for medium sized duffle bags with a zipper filled with the toiletries listed below:

Shampoo
Soap (Liquid or bar, but if bar please include a soap holder)
Brush and comb
Fleece blanket
Deodorant
Toothbrush, toothpaste and floss

OASFAA always responds with an incredible outpouring of love and support, but we also want to make it fun. So, as we've done in the past, we're going to have a contest to see who can collect the most items. We will divide into four teams and the winner (or loser) will get to do something entertaining for the rest of us! Teams, team leaders, and contest rules will be announced soon. In the meantime while you're finishing up your Christmas shopping (or just getting started) be on the lookout for some of these items on sale and go ahead and pick them up. Mendy has already found some light weight canvas bags at Target that are 20" and 24", fold in on themselves, have a toiletry bag and are $10 and $15. They sound perfect!

The Spring OASFAA conference is shaping up to be a great one and the opportunity for us to help the less fortunate will make it even better!
