Position Opening--- Financial Aid Officer II

The successful candidate for this position will join a team of three
other full-time counselors in assisting students financing their
education.  The primary function of this position will consist of
counseling students and parents concerning financial aid processes.
Responsibilities include: responding to e-mail, awarding financial aid,
checking satisfactory academic progress, correcting and adjusting
financial aid packages, certifying loans, verifying independent status,
and processing special circumstance requests.  Using the student
information system to obtain and update information.  Determine student
eligibility.  Process paperwork, develop flyers, lists, tables, graphs
and charts in an accurate and timely manner. Conduct financial aid
workshops as requested for the University and surrounding communities.
Obtain and maintain knowledge concerning state, federal and University
policies and regulations by attending workshops, seminars, and
conferences.  Perform other related duties and projects as required or
assigned.

Required Qualifications:  The formal education equivalent of a bachelors
degree with a major in general business or related field; plus one year
of experience in student financial aid or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two or more years working in a financial aid
office with some progress toward a masters in a related field.
Experience using student information systems, and a working knowledge of
Microsoft Office software.  Excellent interpersonal written and verbal
communication and problem solving skills a priority, as well as a strong
work ethic and an intense desire to work in a fast paced service related
environment.

The salary range is $23,166 - $24,601 depending on experience and
qualifications.  The search will continue until the position is filled.

at $5 per hour along with dependent and spouse  tuition discounts of
50%.
