MS-ISAC Launches K-12 Poster Contest

The Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) is once again conducting a national K-12 Computer Safety Contest to encourage young people to use the Internet safely and securely and to craft messages and images that will best resonate with their peers across the country.

The importance of spreading the message about safe online behavior has never been more important. The majority of our youth are online, and the risks for cyber bullying, identify theft and other serious incidents among children is increasing.

The contest is open to all public, private or home-schooled students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Each state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) government is invited to conduct a poster contest for students within their state and submit its top winners to the MS-ISAC by March 3, 2014 for entry into the MS-ISAC National Poster Contest.

Posters will be judged on the following criteria: creativity, originality, poster concept and adherence to technical specifications. Any entry that infringes upon copyright or contains any trademark images or links for brands such as Disney Characters, Dell, Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc. will not be judged.

Conducting a contest is easy and fun:
*        Review the criteria found online at the MS-ISAC website at: http://msisac.cisecurity.org/awareness/poster2014/index.cfm
*        Invite students to develop their artwork
*        Select the top winners according to the criteria
*        Submit those winners to the MS-ISAC by March 3, 2014

Winning entries of the National Contest will be included in the MS-ISAC 2015 Calendar, which is distributed to every state in the country as part of the MS-ISAC Cyber Security Awareness Toolkit. Entries received may also be used in other national, regional and state cyber and computer security awareness campaigns. Last year's contest included more than 2,000 student entries.

The MS-ISAC encourages you to participate in this national effort. For only a minimal investment of time, you can help to reinforce the importance about online safety, and create positive messages that can help children across the country.
