Can anyone speak to how you handle work study, or what you call it when a student wants to leave early from school to work? Where do I go for guidance, how to word the school policy, and legal knowledge needed?
* You could do it through an internship class. Juniors are allowed one class period of internship, seniors are allowed 2 class periods. I have students that don't come in 1st and 2nd periods because they work late and I have those that leave 2 hours early to go to work. Internship is a graded class so they have to submit their time cards to get grades in the class. There is also work supervision. This is for Seniors only and is not a graded class. The state only lets you use it for the last period of the day and I believe that they can't be an office aid and have work supervision since they should only get one class period free a day. I do use 2 period internship and work supervision together for special cases and the senior doesn't need very many classes to graduate. The subject codes are listed on the state website. lreed at westville.k12.ok.us<mailto:lreed at westville.k12.ok.us>
* The Work Study code is 2410. wnorton at latta.k12.ok.us<mailto:wnorton at latta.k12.ok.us>
