[D2l-alert] First OSHRE Meeting

I would like to thank everyone for a great meeting! I really came away
feeling more confident that the relationship with consortium members
SWOSU and OCU and the D2L instance hosted by OneNet is best for Rose
State College and its users. We have strength in our consortium to
support one another. 

 

I would like to thank the staff at OneNet for the excellent preparations
to provide valuable and reassuring information at our meeting. More
importantly, I would like to thank OneNet for the diligence and care
with which they manage and maintain our D2L instance to keep it running
as smoothly as possible. I think the plans and progress we have made
incrementally over the years, just moved into warp drive today. I think
D2L may actually be contacting OneNet in a few months for steps to
improve their own hosting services. :)

 

Our plans to slow the pace of upgrades will allow our users time to
digest features and feel more stability in the platform. Using the
planned outage in January to upgrade our server O.S. is brilliant,
Frank. I hope we can do that when you learn the details of what is
involved. I believe we have a better picture of how our D2L instance
operates and how we can communicate issues more efficiently. OneNet's
steps to monitor the server and the planned notification system will put
my mind at ease that the correct people will be notified quickly at
OneNet and member schools when there is a problem.

 

For those interested in going to FUSION, the web address is
http://www.desire2learn.com/fusion/. I suggest reserving a room in the
conference hotel now with a credit card. The block of rooms will sell
out quickly. Perhaps at our next meeting, as of yet unscheduled, we
might be ready for more of an idea sharing and discussion about
guidelines to lighten the load on our server. We tentatively said we
would meet sometime in March.
