[D2l-alert] Service Pack collection is now released

I have not heard any more from D2L on this time. They said in the ticket
that if I did not hear otherwise, the time was good. I assume we are on
for the service pack deployment on 23 APR 2013 7:00 CST with a 2-hour
window for deployment. Have a great weekend!

This is what we have so far:

We have the 23 APR 2013 7:00 CST time reserved with a 2 hour window for
deployment. Apparently, this is not guaranteed even though it is
scheduled. Support has to approve the scheduled time through a Change
Advisory Board (?). I have asked when we will know for certain that is
the time for deployment.

The message from the helpdesk indicated "there should be no expected
downtime, and only a possibility of a brief slowdown during the
deployment window, which is 2hrs. Having said that, there should be no
impact to end users that is of concern." I asked about how a restart of
services could affect a student who is taking a quiz and connected to
one of the app servers. When the services on the app server are
restarted, I assume that student would be kicked off and be forced to
login again. I am awaiting confirmation of this and the time for
deployment.

I haven't posted a news item yet. I'd like to wait until this afternoon
to give support a chance to confirm the deployment time. :)

I will request on behalf of the group. I will report back with the date
on which the service pack will be applied. Though it should not require
downtime, I'm fairly certain it will require a restart in services which
would kick anyone off if they are in the middle of a test. Therefore, I
will request a pre-8 AM time. If it looks like the service pack
application would be more extensive, I will report to the group first.
Thanks.

Yes Please! J I have been asking about here since the D2L helpdesk told
us we could make a special request (prior to the formal release) at the
end of February - we were having more problems with Turnitin docs not
processing. Since we are acting on behalf of our open instructional
technologist position, the question kept getting pushed aside as we
weren't sure of the "requesting process" for the group.

Let me know what you need from us.

Thanks,

I would like to request the SP10 service pack be applied unless someone
else already has requested it. Is that okay? My understanding in the
past is that it would require little or no downtime with perhaps a
restart of services required. I will request an early morning time.
Since TEST is on 10.1, the service pack would be applied directly to
PROD. I would like to hear from both SWOSU and OCU. Thanks.
