Hi all,
I've been hearing reports that it's been sleeting some this morning, but
not everywhere and not all that much I guess. The predictions are
pretty good for something coming down on us today though, so be prepared.
Sometime this evening I'm going to have to call my Aunt Alma in Indiana
and wish her a happy birthday. I believe she holds the family record
for making it to 105 this year. My grandmother, Aunt Alma's mother,
lived to be 99 years and one month, and when she was still alive, she
really wanted to make it to 100. Aunt Alma said she told Granny that
she didn't want to live that long. I hope she's gotten over that
notion, since she's beaten that by five years, and is still sharp as a
tack. She's not so good physically, being in a wheelchair after
breaking a hip, but with someone to get behind her and push, she can
still enjoy life. One of her granddaughter's took her to one of the
casino boats near where she lives for her 100th birthday, and informed
those in charge that they had a lady celebrating her 100th birthday on
board. They announced that they had a special guest with them that day
from the town Aunt Alma is from, and Aunt Alma started looking around to
see if she knew who it was. Imagine her surprise when she found out
that she was the special guest. May we all be so blessed.
Our menu for today includes:
Roast beef
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Corn on the cob
Turnip greens
Pinto beans
Cornbread
Rice
Hot rolls
Pasta bar
Our fast food is Mr. Rib on a bun with Chips.
And for dessert we have Peach Cobbler.
Bundle up and come over for lunch,
Rhoda :-)
