Hi folks,
I hope all you Sophomores are planning to attend the SOPHOMORE LUNCHEON
at the WHITE HOUSE AT NOON. It's certainly not that we don't want you
to eat here with us, but you should take advantage of the FREE LUNCH
that's being held specially in your honor. With graduation coming up
quickly, your days at Eastern are coming to an end and you should get
out there and participate in all the special events that are being
planned for your enjoyment. Make some more good memories while you're
still here with us.
I was so thrilled this morning when I heard the first whippoorwill I've
heard this year! That's a definite sign that Spring is here.
Walking up to my vehicle yesterday as I was about to leave campus, I
thought I heard a little noise, like a mewing sound, so I looked around
for a kitten or whatever could've been making that little squeaky
noise. I was unable to locate the source, so chalked it up to me just
hearing things, got in my car and drove to town. When I had completed
my errand in town, I approached my vehicle again and this time I
definitely heard a mewing sound, and realized that whatever it was, it
was travelling with me. I raised the hood and there was a little scared
gray and white kitten hunkered into the corner up near the windshield!
I immediately recognized who it's daddy was, as there's a larger version
of it that runs around on our hill looking for love in all the wrong
places. I knew our one of our cats had had kittens somewhere recently,
but she was very sneaky about giving us any idea where she had them at.
I think she had them down the hill at someone elses house and has just
brought them home. Evidently this one got misplaced last night and
crawled under my hood for warmth. Talk about a lucky little cat! I've
heard so many horror stories about cats and kittens getting in the fan
belts of cars and being killed. I took this baby home, and there was
the mama cat parading around like nothing at all was wrong, but I put
the baby down next to her and what a reunion! It turns out there are 2
more that she's brought home also. It is spring after all, so be sure
and watch out for little kittens and puppies that don't have any "street
smarts" yet and don't know not to get under vehicles.
Our menu for today includes:
Indian tacos
Pinto beans
Crispy cube potatoes
Cabbage with smoked sausage
Corn
Spanish rice
Cornbread
Tuna salad sandwiches
Potato chips
And for dessert have some scrumptious Chocolate Delight!
Have a great day,
Rhoda :-)
