Winter weather advisories have been issued for the next 7-10 days in our
area, with extremely cold temperatures expected. Please be aware of your
local weather and travel conditions. Below are a few winter weather safety
tips and reminders.

Campus Closures:
Classes may be canceled only if extreme weather conditions or emergency
situations arise. In the event that one or more campus locations close and
classes are canceled, information will be distributed by the following:

   - RAVE Alert text message
   - EOSC Email
   - Banner graphic on the homepage of EOSC’s website
   - EOSC Facebook
   - EOSC Twitter
   - A notification via area television and radio stations

Personal Safety:

   - Plan ahead and give yourself time to prepare for the weather
   conditions.
   - Slow down – both driving and walking.
   - Wear proper footwear and watch for ice patches.
   - Be extra careful when entering and exiting vehicles.
   - Walk slowly, hold on to hand railings when walking on steps and secure
your feet firmly on each step.
   - When entering a building, be careful because your shoes may be wet and
can cause you to slip or fall.
   - Commuter students who feel that they cannot safely travel to campus
for class should plan to attend class via Zoom and/or notify their
   instructors directly.

On-Campus Apartments:

   - Residents in the campus apartments and Regents Court should let their
faucets drip and open cabinet doors under sinks to help prevent pipes from
   freezing.
