[Hen] VoIP

Lou;
OneNet and OSRHE put in a Cisco VoIP a couple of years ago. I can only
say it works fine. Everything I'd have expected and more. My favorite
feature is that when someone leaves me a voice mail, it is converted to
a .wav and placed in my Outlook mail box. I can hear it from anywhere I
can get my mail, and when I do, the red light on my phone goes OUT!
OneNet now also has a Cisco VoIP Call manager outside the firewall. We
put this there recently specifically to let us offer service to folks
like you. This new call manager is another step toward the same goal,
make Higher Ed more efficient!
I have heard good things about the other vendors as well. This is just
the vendor we went with.
Many folks on this list serve may not realize that OneNet was providing
toll-avoidance long distance to NEOA&M and two dozen others in the state
as far back as the early 1980s! In those days, we used Nortel Channel
Banks and EFD T1-modems on Analog Video Microwave! (can you say stone
knives and bear skins?)
OneNet is not married to Cisco. If colleges would like us to help with
any VoIP solution, just let us know. We love to save you money! We
maintain contracts with Nortel and others to make hardware purchasing
easy as well. check out www.onenet.net and click on "contracts" in the
bottom left.

Are any agencies currently utilizing Voice Over IP or
considering it? If you have implemented, what vendor did you use and
how is it working for you?
Thanks.
