Coordinators -

Earlier this week we officially opened the application process for the 2020 Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA). To those who aren't familiar with GAMSA, the award recognizes communities whose successes serve as a model for comprehensive, preservation-based commercial district revitalization and is open to all Main Street America(r) Accredited communities who have not previously won. On Monday, June 3 from 1-2pm CDT we will be hosting a webinar to talk about the application process, changes to the application, and judging criteria. Blake Opal-Wahoske, Executive Director of a 2019 GAMSA winning community Wausau River District, will also be joining us to share some tips. We encourage you and any of your programs interested in applying to attend and learn more. You can register for the webinar by clicking here<https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/6030865657646682636> and we do intend to record it incase you are able to join live. If you are interested you can view the full application here<https://nationalmainstreetcenter.submittable.com/submit/140536/2020-great-american-main-street-award-application>.

I also wanted to bring you up to speed on some changes made to this year's application and process based on feedback from the Leadership Council and past jurors.

- The narrative portion of the application is significantly different and provides programs more space to talk about the outcomes and how the program defines success.
- As Coordinators, we will ask you to review the application and provide feedback on the application if you desire.
- We will be conducting a phone/video interview with each of the Semi-Finalists and due to this more intensive process we will be reducing the Semi-Finalists from 10 to 8.

If you have any questions about the process, application changes, etc... please don't hesitate to reach out.

Best,
