National Endowment for the Arts' Housing Assistance Council offers opportunities that connect rural communities to design resources, enabling communities to act on ideas for improvements to a community's streets, buildings, public spaces, or landscapes to address the specific physical, environmental, social, and economic challenges facing rural areas. 4.       Rural LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) created the Community Facilities Fund to provide capital to help develop and improve essential community facilities in rural areas. Rural LISC utilizes this fund to provide permanent and construction-to-permanent financing for rural community facilities, including health care centers, hospitals, educational facilities, and other nonprofit and public facilities in rural communities with populations under 20,000. 6.       New Classroom Supply Grants for Visual and Performing Arts A new Oklahoma Arts Council grant program will help Oklahoma teachers buy supplies for their visual and performing arts classrooms. Fellowship for Artists Working in New Surrealism Painters living in the United States who work in the New Surrealist style can apply for a $5,000 fellowship being administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts. National Low-Income Housing Coalition has released the 30th anniversary edition of "Out of Reach" comparing wages and rents throughout the U.S. The report illustrates that rental housing continues to be out of reach for millions of low-wage workers and other extremely low-income renters. On average, a full-time worker in the U.S. must earn $22.96 per hour to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment at the fair market rent and $18.65 for a modest one-bedroom apartment. In nine states and the District of Columbia, full-time workers need to earn more than $25.00 per hour for a modest two-bedroom apartment.
