[Oacrao-l] Using plus/minus on grades

Hi all, regarding the +/- issue, Kristie is correct - it would require
an exception to OSRHE policy.

As background, institutions have explored the possibility of these grade
designations by looking at practices in other states and its impact and
benefits. The impetus behind one I remember in the last five years had
to do with faculty interest to show a true reflection of the student's
efforts by showing the +/-. In the end, the proposal did not move
forward for OSRHE consideration and I do not know the particular
reason/s. It was an institutional decision.

One important consideration is the overall intent of OSRHE policy to
encourage uniformity in the State System and transfer within the State
System, i.e., how would the +/- be applied at other campuses? This is
not to discourage exploration if it is in the best interest of the
students, but to provide food for thought and a little background.

We are looking forward to the OACRAO meeting in a few weeks!

Gina

We don't use +/- grading at Southeastern. The topic does come up
occasionally, but it hasn't been pursued too hard since it's not in
OSRHE policy.

Greetings, all.

We've had a proposal raised wanting UCO to start using plus and minus on
grades, e.g., B+, and I'm gathering facts.

Any of you out there in OACRAO land using plus/minus? It looks to me
like the OSRHE grading policy doesn't allow plus/minus.

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

Paul
