[Oacrao-l] Academic Probation/Suspension

Hi Holly!
At TCC we began using College email to notify students of academic notice, probation, suspension, and dismissal.  We notify students in our catalog that this is how they will be notified.
We use Ellucian (Banner) and can track that the letter was indeed sent to the student.  We began using College email in 2009.  Previous to that we always encountered issues with the student not receiving the letter.
This has been a good option for us.

What is everyone doing when a student is placed on Academic Probation or Suspension to notify them? Currently, we are only mailing letters but we are curious if anyone has moved to a better way of communicating this to their students. Text or e-mail maybe? I couldn't find anything in Regents Policy or Procedures indicating a required format of communication for this.
