We went from just doing letters to doing both letters and emails a few years back.

On a related note, we're looking at doing some outreach to suspended students to talk to them individually and discuss a plan/options for future semesters rather than just rely on a one-way letter/email to communicate the bad news.  (FYI - When I say "we," I mean academic advisors as well as staff in our Student Success office.)

We were notifying our students by letter and email and made the decision a couple of years ago to just notify them via email. It reaches them much quicker and more reliably than addresses.

What is everyone doing when a student is placed on Academic Probation or Suspension to notify them? Currently, we are only mailing letters but we are curious if anyone has moved to a better way of communicating this to their students. Text or e-mail maybe? I couldn't find anything in Regents Policy or Procedures indicating a required format of communication for this.
