Good morning colleagues!

I am gathering info for our Commencement Committee. If you have a minute, could you answer a couple of questions? Please answer with how you handled things prior to COVID. 😊

  1.  Do you have more than one ceremony each year?  Yes, we normally had a fall and spring commencement.  Due to growth in the number of our summer graduates, we will be adding a summer commencement this year.
  2.  If you have only one ceremony, do your fall graduates participate in the ceremony before or the ceremony after their intended graduation?   Fall commencement included the previous summer graduates; however, we did allow summer graduates to ‘walk early’ in the Spring commencement.   Once we add the summer commencement, students will be expected to participate in the ceremony held in the semester of their graduation.
  3.  Do you have a credit hour requirement or any other requirement that must be met for a summer or fall graduate to participate in the spring ceremony prior to their intended graduation?   They had to show that they could meet all graduation requirements by the end of the term in which they plan to finish their degree.
  4.  Do you have any students perform musical pieces or any other student performances as part of your commencement ceremony?  The University band and choral usually perform during the ceremony. Our Music Department would select the musical pieces performed.
