[Oacrao-l] Inquiry about Bursar holds and transcript requests

Hello All,

OSUIT does have a ‘drop for non-payment’ policy in place. We currently allow students to enroll in the next semester while owing a bill for the current semester allowing students additional time to pay semester charges. If a student still has an outstanding bill prior to the start of the next semester, we will at that time (prior to the start of the next semester), drop the student from all next semester courses.

We are discussing plans to drop students earlier. There has been some discussion on not allowing future enrollment, but no decision has been finalized.

Regarding the bursar holds issue, is anyone considering implementing a 'drop for non-payment" policy? For those of you that already have that in place, do you drop prior to the beginning of the term or once the term has started? What criteria do you use to determine drops? What are the pros/cons?

Our plan at OSU Center for Health Sciences is to cease holding transcripts for Bursar holds as of July 1, 2024. We are also monitoring what our main campus in Stillwater plans to do, however, and we may update our plan if they provide different guidance.

Just wanted to clarify that SWOSU has not made a firm decision yet, but in conversations with our Bursar, we feel that this is the way we’re leaning.

Good Monday morning to all!  If you were able to attend Friday’s Spring Policy Workshop, we hope you had a great time, and found it helpful and informative……great to see you there!

I have one question: at the workshop, it was mentioned that Oklahoma City Community College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University were no longer holding transcripts for students/former students with active Bursar holds in place.  As such, are there any other institutions in Oklahoma that will be enacting a similar practice?  If so, when would this be done (if known)?
