Jonna, is he a first time or serial appealer? If it's his first appeal I'd be inclined to approve on the condition that he provide documentation as to how the problem will be solved going forward. If a second/third appeal or no plan provided, I would deny as well.

Subject: [Oasfaa] SAP appeal question
I have a hypothetical situation.
Student has a terrible GPA (Less than a .6)
and a completion rate of less than 30%. He states in the appeal that he was unable to get refills for his depression and anxiety meds because he is an hour from home and doesn't have a car. (He can't get meds at a pharmacy because he has to get them from his tribal facility due to costs.)
My first inclination is to deny the appeal because it wasn't extenuating circumstances that popped up after he was in school. This is a situation that he was aware of and the family failed to get a plan together before he came to campus. But, then when you look at the mental health aspect.....
What say you?
Thanks
Jonna
