[OK-AIR] Student rating of instruction

Good afternoon. I hope all of you are doing something besides working in your offices on this steamy Saturday afternoon. We’re just winding up our Assurance Argument for HLC, so I’ve been chained to my desk for a couple of weeks. Ugh!

I’ve heard from eight schools on my questions about student rating of instruction (below). If anyone else want to respond, that would be welcome. I’m putting together a table of practices and, if there is no objection, I’ll send it out to our group when I have all the responses in it.

Friends,

If you have a moment or two, could you provide a bit of information about how you gather student input on instruction?

o    Do you have a common form that is used for all classes?
o    Is the process done on paper or online or some combination?
o    Do you survey students in every class every semester?
o    Can you share response rates for each of the formats (online vs. paper)?
o    Is there an institutional policy about how much student feedback plays into reappointment, tenure, and promotion decisions?
o    Other things I should have asked and didn’t.

Any information you can provide will be appreciated.
