Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Summary

The Research Data Analyst, working in the Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OPIE), serves as a key member of the OPIE team. Under general supervision, the Research Data Analyst is responsible for carrying out diverse research projects using student, college, regional, and national data. The Research Data Analyst uses a variety of techniques to acquire, analyze, summarize, and present data. The Research Data Analyst is primarily responsible for producing regular reports for internal and external constituents, fulfilling ad hoc data requests, and making regularly requested data available to end users on demand through interactive reports and dashboards. The Research Data Analyst provides direct customer service, interacting regularly with employees from a variety of academic and administrative areas at CNM to clarify information needs and ensure a positive data-user experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

*Gathers, organizes, maintains, and updates information for federal, state, local, and institutional reports, ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of the data obtained and submitted.

*Transforms raw data to prepared datasets for analysis and reporting.

*Analyzes, interprets, and presents data to faculty, staff, and College leadership for decision-making purposes.

*Constructs effective data displays, including tables and graphics, to communicate key points for succinct and meaningful consumption.

*Responds to internal and external ad hoc requests with accuracy and efficiency.

*Supports internal College consumers in survey best practices and dissemination of surveys.

*Develops and maintains assigned internal publications.

*Assists in maintaining the Institutional Research web resources.

*Trains institutional constituents on use of interactive data tools produced by the Office of Planning & Institutional Effectiveness.

*Prepares regular status reports, which may include daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and special project status reporting.

*Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

*Bachelor's degree and three (3) years' experience in data mining related work.

Preferences:

*Previous experience and working knowledge of query logic

*Previous experience responding to requests for data

*Previous experience preparing reports involving data summaries and data visualization
