INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER - COLLEGE OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY:  Directs and coordinates webpage/website development for the college and guides the use and improvements of web-based instructional technologies.  Directs and supports the college in the areas of computer operations, system administration, and computer technology for research and education.  Works with administration in directing, planning, and evaluating of all aspects of the IT department.

JOB DUTIES


Web-based Course Management.  Works with faculty and staff to define instructional objectives and prescribe instructional strategies, based on analysis of faculty/ learner needs and goals.  Assist faculty and professional staff in determining the appropriateness of various media, taking into account cost, educational goals and objectives, and potential audience.  Assist in the development of web-based courses, the design and creation of web-based learning materials and the development of interactive computer-mediated learning.  Modify and adapt current curricular materials into web-based learning materials.  Facilitate the development of formative and summative evaluations of distance learning techniques.

Information Systems.  Ensure that timely technical support is provided to the college faculty and staff on computer-related issues, including classroom computers, videoconferencing technology, and databases.  Ensure system administration for the college's servers and other computer systems.  Ensures that all college users are supplied with the proper resources (i.e. manuals, on-line help, internet access, etc.) for the hardware and software supported by the college.  Ensures that a current inventory of computer hardware and software owned by the college are maintained.  Ensures the college maintains compliance with HIPAA privacy and security policies and provisions for computers and servers.

Department Needs Assessment.  Evaluates and recommends computer systems and peripheral products, including distance technology, to administration.  Works with college personnel to identify immediate and long range objectives, determines objectives, provides resources (i.e. financial, personnel, etc.) and develops plans to attain the objective.  Prepares product specifications and obtains price estimates for all computer-related purchases.

Training.  Presents training seminars for faculty, staff, and students on the use of course management system.  Provides user training and assistance for various software, email, web and other applications.

Policy and Procedure Development.  Develops and implements policies and procedures for the IT department, including disaster recovery plans.

Personnel Supervision.  Provides leadership, direction, and support to the IT staff.  Recommends hiring, promotion, and termination of staff.  Conducts performance appraisals, recommends increases, and assess staffing needs.
Other Duties as Assigned:  OUHSC reserves the right to add or change duties to meet the operating needs of the department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management or closely related field.

Experience:  48 months experience in Educational Information Technology or closely related field, 24 months supervisory experience.
