Do not be afraid to give your time to writing grant proposals. Time given to planning proposals is never time lost, but is rather time gained, so that our research, our programs, our collaborations and indeed our whole profession may become more profoundly significant.

June 28-July 1, 2014 in Washington, D.C.

CUR continues to work to keep conference costs low, and hopes that you will take advantage of the Washington, D.C. location and the well-below market hotel rate that we have secured for CUR Conference attendees. Due to the generous support of our sponsors, we are also offering a limited number of conference grants. These grants are available to those attendees with demonstrated need to subsidize the cost of attendance. We expect that these awards will be competitive; applicants from historically under-represented groups, minority-serving institutions, and first-time attendees will be given priority. "TAPPING THE POTENTIAL OF ALL STUDENTS: DEVELOPING AND ENHANCING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE SETTINGS"

JULY 18-20, 2014, SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE, LINCOLN, NE

OVERVIEW AND INSTITUTIONAL ELIGIBILITY

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) was awarded a National Science Foundation - Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement (CCLI) Phase 2 Award in 2009 (DUE 0920083) to continue our partnership with the National Council of Instructional Administrators (NCIA) and expand the successful model of our annual, national-level Institutionalizing Undergraduate Research Institute to community colleges. Over the last three years, CUR and NCIA have hosted more than 300 faculty members at twelve different professional development workshops, designed to help launch undergraduate research programs in a community college setting.

We are currently soliciting applications for our final workshop to be supported by this grant, and are seeking applications from community colleges with a commitment to developing and enhancing their undergraduate research programs. This grant-funded workshop will reimburse expenses1 for the selected institutions' team members to attend the regional workshop, with the exception of the teams' travel to the workshop.

1 Lodging will be covered as either one night in either of the conference hotels for one participant, or two nights for shared room
