About the Town Hall
The Region 4 Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Town Hall is one in a series of national listening sessions designed to support strong implementation of the new legislation. It will be an opportunity for our broad stakeholder group to share their questions, insights and suggestions regarding the changes outlined in the WIOA legislation - all of which will help us at the U.S. Departments of Labor (USDOL), Education, and Health and Human Services to develop regulations with an eye toward service design and customer/stakeholder input. We are encouraging anyone who can to register and participate in-person. Realizing that some stakeholders will not be able to travel to Irving, Texas, we also have arranged WebEx capabilities for groups to participate online.
Our aim for the day is also that attendees will leave with a common and clear understanding of USDOL's expectations for the WIOA implementation, a better insight into what key changes will be required of states and localities, and an enhanced sense of the required partnerships with the Offices of Career, Technical & Adult Education and Rehabilitation Services, and of TANF as a mandatory partner in the one-stop delivery system.
The session will provide a great deal of structured feedback to the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services around implementation challenges and considerations. To that end, the town hall is a great opportunity for attendees to be heard, and to play a dynamic role in the ongoing process of WIOA implementation.
