Linda, does this mean program participants and sub-contractors as well?

Thanks!
Alan

Subject: [Cag] Debarment and Suspension List Checking

Dear Colleagues,

One procedure that the Uniform Guidance requires is to check grant employees status on the federal Debarment and Suspension List. Appearing on the list means that they are not eligible to do business with the US Government. So, if they appear on the list, they are not eligible for participation in federal government sponsored projects.

Many institutions are checking ALL employees and prospective employees against this Debarment and Suspension List. However, if you need to do the checking of grant employees yourself, it is not a difficult process.

First, sign in on the SAM registration website. If you have a current SAM registration, you will have a user name and a password.
Next, select DATA ACCESS at the top of the page. Exclusions Extract Data Package is at the bottom of the page. The information is provided on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Select the most current date, click on it and download the data. (If you have Windows 2007 or newer, you will be able to download the data easily.)
The data is listed by individual names first and entity names next. You can scroll down to see if the name appears. If it does, then you have to take action that removes the person from the grant project.
Since this could be devastating to a project, you might want to set up a procedure to check the proposed grant staff before sending the solicitation as a Pre-Award procedure.
I just checked the list for my name, and did not find myself (whew!), so I am eligible to participate in federal government supported projects.

Let me know if I can help you further.
