2009 SENIOR FINAL PAPERWORK
The final paperwork for the 2009 OKPromise seniors was mailed to the schools on April 30 and May 1. If you have not received yours, please check with your school's office to see if it possibly just hasn't made it to your desk yet. If you need extra copies of the Program Verification (PV), Summer Contact form or the Curriculum Checklist, there are blank copies on our website at http://www.okhighered.org/okpromise/hs-contact-info.shtml. We cannot accept PVs for students completing the program until the final transcripts are available, however if you have students who are no longer enrolled at your school or non-completers, feel free to mail them at any time. Please send all forms to us no later than June 30 so that we can get students notified as quickly as possible. If you have circumstances that will push you beyond this date, please notify us so that we can plan accordingly.
WHAT TO TELL YOUR 2009 SENIORS NOW ...
What do I need to do? How much is my scholarhsip worth? How will the college know I'm an OKPromise student? Many of you are(or will be) getting questions from your seniors like these. We plan to begin notifying students beginning June 1 and will continue throughout the summer. However, in the meantime many of these questions are answered on our website at www.okpromise.org under the FAQ for HS Seniors and the FAQ for College Students.
CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION ADDED TO DOCUMENT
We have recently added information about concurrent enrollment courses to our "What HS Courses Count ..." document on our website at http://www.okhighered.org/student-center/jrhigh-highscl/course-guidelines.shtml. The following paragraph is not a change to the OKPromise program; we have just added it to this document for clarification.
* <http://www.okhighered.org/student-center/jrhigh-highscl/earncredit.shtml#concurrent> Concurrent enrollment courses may be used to satisfy the high school curricular requirements for college admission, Oklahoma's Promise and the college preparatory/work-ready curriculum if the courses fit within one of the core subject areas and are approved for that purpose by the student's school district. The student should check with the school counselor to verify that the school district allows the concurrent enrollment course to count for high school credit. If a concurrent enrollment course is used for high school curricular requirements, it is recommended that the course be shown on the student's high school transcript.
Thank you all for the hard work that you do! We will be here all summer to answer your questions. You can reach us by e-mail at okpromise at osrhe.edu or by phone at 1.800.858.1840.
