> STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES
> 
> POSITION SUMMARY
> The Assistant Director of Student Loans will report to the Director of
Student Financial Services and will be responsible for processing all
Federal student loans for undergraduate, graduate, law, continuing
education programs, parent and private loans. Loan disbursements and
loan refunds must be monitored and processed through the Business
Office.  This individual will be responsible for strict adherence to
federal, state and university guidelines and must be cognizant of
frequent regulation changes.  This position has high contact with
students, lenders, guarantee agencies, and outside servicers.
> 
> CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
> * Process loans and counsel students on loan eligibility.
> * Coordinate electronic funds transfer and paper checks from lenders.
> * Work through an exception report generated from loan disbursements.
> * Determine eligibility for study abroad or visiting programs.
> * Refund ineligible or denied funds in appropriate regulatory time
constraints.
> * Coordinate consortium agreements with other institutions.
> * Award summer eligibility.
> * Conduct entrance and exit interviews for debt counseling.
> * Maintain knowledge on federal and state regulations.
> * Maintain knowledge on university policy and procedures.
> * Other duties as assigned by the Director.
> 
> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
> A Bachelor's degree; 2 years experience in a Student Financial Aid
office or related financial aid field; excellent customer service,
organizational, and analytical skills; proficient technical computer
skills including extensive Internet usage; and proficient in FTP and
Windows based operating systems.  An equivalent combination of education
and/or experience may substitute for stated degree requirement.

> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
> A Bachelor's degree; 3 years experience processing student loans; and
familiarity with the University's Datatel Colleague information system.
