Hi folks,
Remember to keep your calendar clear for this Saturday evening. There
will be a Pie Auction at Red Oak at 7:00 sponsored by their local
Masonic Lodge to benefit the Latimer County Arts Council to help them
bring quality programs to the local schools during the coming school
year. If you appreciate the kinds of wonderful programs this group is
trying to provide, please try to come and buy a pie or two, or if you
can't make it, feel free to make a donation to this worthwhile cause.
I'm feeling a bit draggy today after my daughter running into the
bedroom at 2:00 last night yelling about a snake being in the chicken
house. I yelled at Gary, my husband, who had the air conditioner going
and was coccooned up in the blanket. His response was to yell that he
had heard about it, and keep sleeping. We grabbed the flashlight and
went out to the chicken house to see what we could do with the intruder,
which turned out to be a large chicken snake draped over the rafters of
my henhouse. What we could do with it consisted of sitting there
watching it not move, shining the flashlight on it, waiting for it to
move, shining the flashlight on it some more, waiting some more while it
didn't move some more, and finally giving up and going back to bed.
(That was me; Destiny stayed out there to poke at it with a broken golf
club until it got down and slithered away under the wall.) At least it
didn't get any of our baby chickens, that I know of. I thought we had
all the holes patched up in the henhouse after something got in it the
other night, but evidently there was still a snake sized hole somewhere
that we'll have to find. This morning when Destiny and I mentioned
something about the snake, Gary looked at us and said, "What snake?" He
didn't remember a thing.
Our menu for today includes:
Beef tips
Mashed potatoes and brown gravy
Butter and garlic rice
Green beans
Broccoli cuts
Baked potatoes
Rolls
Shrimp poppers
Potato wedges
And for dessert try some scrumptious Peanut Butter Pie.
Have a great day,
Rhoda :-)
