and Training Program, National Security Agency
"Prepare for Information Assurance in Government and Industry"
This session will address the national level response to enhance the
posture of information assurance education. Opportunities available for
students and institutions of higher education as well as the benefits
received to the greater American critical infrastructures will be
outlined.
Dr. Maconachy currently serves as program manager of the National
INFOSEC Education and Training Program (NIETP) within the National
Security Agency. He is implementing a multidimensional, interagency
program that provides direct support and guidance to major Department of
Defense components, federal agencies, and the greater national
information infrastructure. Maconachy was appointed by the White House
to co-chair the Critical Information Coordination Committee for
Personnel and Training, which prepared the personnel and training

Protection (issued in January 2000).
Mr. Robert J. Du Charme, Security Training Manager, Critical
Infrastructure Assurance Group, Cisco Systems, Inc.
"Creating and Operating a Transparently Secure Network"
Security should never be viewed as an add-on to the network; they are
synonymous. This talk will uncover the necessary features of a
transparently secure network and show how to create the synergy of both
network and security.
Robert J. Du Charme is a security training manager in the Critical
Infrastructure Assurance Group at Cisco Systems. In this position his
responsibilities include creating and delivering relevant, current, and
high-quality security education and training for higher education and
critical infrastructure program sector audiences using available or new
training materials and lab resources. He also provides technical and
course development support as required. Prior to Cisco he served in a
variety of network and help desk positions for the Administrative Office
of the U.S. Federal Courts. He also held many network and system
administrative positions while serving 17 years in the U.S. Air Force.
