Subject: OACRAO Fall Conference OSRHE Follow-up Information

Dear OACRAO member, it was great getting to meet and speak with you all at the fall OACRAO conference hosted by UCO. As promised, I’m providing a follow-up response to a couple of items that came from some of the OACRAO breakout sessions.

 1. Are colleges/universities required to report back to local high schools on student athlete’s progress in courses in which they are enrolled in concurrently to determine OSSAA eligibility?

No. Colleges/universities are not required to report the student athlete’s progress in courses in which they are enrolled in concurrently to determine OSSAA eligibility. However, this does not preclude the college or university to establish a reporting agreement with the local high school if the college or university wishes to do so.

 1. At what point during the semester will a student’s transcript reflect a grade of record being a “W”?

State Regent’s policy states the following: an automatic withdrawal grade of "W" is issued when a student initiates a withdrawal during the institution's allowable withdrawal period. An institution's withdrawal period for an automatic "W" shall begin after the tenth day of classes in the regular session and the fifth day of classes in the summer term and shall not exceed 12 weeks of a 16-week semester or, in general, not exceed three-fourths of the duration of any term. For any drop or withdrawal accepted after this deadline, a "W" or "F" will be assigned depending upon the student's standing in the class and the institution's stated withdrawal policy.

Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have questions.

Regards,
José
