[Oacrao-l] Question regarding In-State Student Status

Hello everyone,

Because medical students are continuously enrolled fulltime (if all goes as planned) for all 4 years of their program, we advise out of state students that if they accept an offer of admission, they will remain out of state through graduation unless they marry an OK resident. We adhere to Policy 3.18(F) and will reclassify students who petition based on marriage to an existing OK resident.

OACARO Colleagues,

We have received an inquiry regarding an institution "requiring" an out-of-state student to agree that they would remain classified as out-of-state for the duration of enrollment, regardless of any change in circumstance.  This appears to conflict with 70 O.S. §3218.2 and Regents Policy 3.18(F), which provides that an out-of-state student who marries an Oklahoma resident may be considered in-state after documentation of marriage and domicile, without the 12-month waiting period.

Can you let me know if having students sign such an affidavit is practice at your institution?
