[Oacrao-l] Pre-Cancel Enrollment for Non-Payment

Hey, Alan!

We do not drop their classes for a future term but they cannot begin classes until the prior balance and balance for the current term are paid.  In the fall and spring we give them until the end of the tenth business day of the semester.  In terms of turning them over to collections we do that on the tenth business day of the next semester as well if they don't continue enrollment and they have a prior balance.

Hello my good friends of OACRAO!

It appears the recent theme is cancelling for non-payment of tuition/fees.  I have a couple of questions that are similar to what was recently presented, but a little different.  I would appreciate your feedback to the questions below as we hope to review our current policy associated with pre-cancellation very soon.


1.     Does your institution cancel students from any upcoming terms/semesters when they have an outstanding balance for the current term/semester (i.e. cancel for 2013 Summer when they owe for 2013 Spring)?

2.     If you do cancel, when do you run that process?

3.     If you do cancel, do you exclude students who have a low balance due (i.e. $50.00)?

4.     At what point do you turn your students over to collections for any outstanding balance due?
