Job Description Summary


The Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment is the administrator responsible for integrated planning, organizing, and coordinating of activities required for campus-wide assessment, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness.

The Director provides creative and innovative Leadership for the creation of a culture in which assessment, continuous quality improvement, and planning activities are integrated, understood, and practiced in ways consistent with the College mission, values and vision.

The Director is responsible for monitoring and providing feedback on the assessment activities of each instructional program and administrative unit annually. In collaboration with the provost, deans, directors, department chairs and Faculty Coordinator of Assessment, the Director provides the leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of assessment activities and the interpretation of data related to student learning outcomes and institutional outcomes assessment.

Minimum Qualifications


Master's degree. Five years of related progressively responsible experience in a higher education setting. Experience in and knowledge of the theory and practice of academic, education support and administrative support assessment methodologies in higher education. Experience with instructional program review and/or support services administrative review.

Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills.

Ability to complete complex tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to execute multiple goals and plans within a fast-paced, team-oriented institution.

Preferred Qualifications


Experience in and knowledge of the theory and practice of strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and regional accreditation.

Teaching experience in higher education.

Plans, supervises, assesses, evaluates and integrates institutional research supporting strategic planning processes, development and measurement of performance outcomes, institutional and academic planning, and other indicators of institutional effectiveness.

Works closely with instructional department chairs, program directors, educational support units, and administrative department managers in developing, maintaining, and conducting effective assessment and continuous quality improvement activities.

Coordinates faculty, staff, student, and related committees and task groups in the development and pursuit of academic assessment activities, and in using assessment results for the improvement of student retention; student persistence in achievement of student goals; and improvement of degree programs, general education, developmental studies, and other aspects of the college's curriculum.

Oversees and coordinates DMC's Instructional Program Review and Support Services Administrative Review Processes.

Collaborates with Faculty Professional Development Committee and Human Resources to plan and conduct workshop series and other faculty/staff development programs to assist all staff in participating in meaningful and effective assessment and institutional effectiveness activities.

Support efforts with DMC strategic planning, including the coordination, data collection, and reporting for campus strategic sub-plans.

In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Research, designs data collection instruments, and oversees survey design and implementation, including surveys to assess both College-wide and departmental goals and objectives, the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), student satisfaction surveys, employer surveys, and graduation surveys to assess student satisfaction and success measures.

Manages the Colleges' assessment management and planning software to ensure accountability and access to all College units.

Coordinates an integrated model of assessment, planning and budgeting activities.

Ensures that compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning and evaluation process of the College. Assists instructional programs with specialized program accreditation.

Communicates important developments in higher education, assessment and accreditation to the campus community and College stakeholders.


Job Duty


Supervises personnel and performs other related duties as assigned or provided for by College policy.
