Institutional Research Analyst



JOB DESCRIPTION:  This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative position reporting to the Director of Institutional Research.


1.             Completes assigned projects with accuracy adhering to project deadlines
2.             Learns common IR terminology and definitions.
3.             Coordinates and/or assists in the administration of institutional surveys and disseminating results.
4.             Supports the Director in collection, storage and reporting of institutional data.
5.             Supports the Director in preparing a variety of mandated and requested College, State and federal reports.
6.             Assists in maintaining the external and internal statistical web pages.
7.             Work independently and effectively under multiple deadlines.
8.             Services internal and external data requests as assigned.

9.             Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

1.       Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, education, economics, statistics, or other quantitatively- oriented discipline required.

2.       Three years of research experience, preferably in areas related to education, government, public policy, not-for-profit organizations, applied research, or financial analysis.  Higher Education experience preferred.


3.       Demonstrated understanding of community college education.  Three years of community college related employment preferred.

4.       Ability to develop accurate reports, charts and graphs that present information in a user friendly, intuitive format.  Experience with Excel, Access, SPSS, COGNOS or similar program preferred.


5.       Ability to clearly and accurately communicate, orally and in writing, complex and/or technical information to lay audiences.

6.       Ability to write, revise, and utilize programs (TOAD, COGNOS, ACCESS etc) to extract and compile data from the College's student information system.   Experience with Banner Student Information System preferred.


7.       Knowledge of survey research design, sampling, and interpretation of results.


8.       Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail.


9.       Ability and willingness to function as a team member in developing and implementing institutional research and institutional effectiveness projects.
